چکیده
Abstract Background Different trials showed that patients treated with blood transfusion (BT) have unfavorable prognosis regarding outcomes and mortality. Nevertheless, in BT hospitalized a contemporary tertiary intensive cardiac care unit (ICCU) is limited. Objective To determine mortality rate ICCU. Methods A prospective single center study to evaluate short- long-term of between January 2020 December 2021 Outcomes During the period 2132 consecutive were admitted mean age 66.9±16 650 (30.5%) them women. Of total population, 108 (5%) (BT-group) during their hospitalization. Patients followed-up for 2 years median [IQR] follow up time 82.5 [12.25–240.50] days BT-group vs. 138.5 [34–325, 75] non-BT (NBT) group. Mean was 73.81±14 66.59±16 NBT-group, p<0.0001. There higher female gender 48.1% 29.5% NBT, Crude 29.6% 9.2% Median length stay 5 [2–6] 3 [2–4] NBT-group. Multivariate Cox analysis (Female gender, prior trans-catheter aortic valve replacement, intervention, sepsis, history congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, pacemaker implantation anemia) independently associated more than two folds [HR=2.19 95% CI (1.47–3.62)] as compared Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) plotted multivariable area under (AUC) 0.8, [0.760–0.852]. Conclusion Even ICCU, advanced technology, equipment delivery care, remains strong predictor Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: None.

Anemia and blood transfusion in a surgical intensive care unit
INTRODUCTION Studies in intensive care unit (ICU) patients have suggested that anemia and blood transfusions can influence outcomes, but these effects have not been widely investigated specifically in surgical ICU patients. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the prospectively collected data from all adult patients (>18 years old) admitted to a 50-bed surgical ICU between 1st March 2004 and 3...
